The control of drug release by traditional controlled release drug delivery systems, in fact, is very limited. In this drug delivery system, a single/multiple layer drug tablet core or drug pellet is coated with controlled release/modified release layer(s) through the elaborately designed pharmaceutical production processes in which the different commonly used equipments for immediate release and controlled release products, such as roll compactor, wet granulator, extruder, spheronizer, fluid bed coater and pan coater, are combined in a brand-new way. The controlled release products containing this novel drug delivery system reveal much better control of drug release within a pre-designed period and significant improvement in patient compliance, convenience and drug safety.
